What happens to old seasons, and can I leave the ladder?

A season is a stretch of time on the ladder. When one ends, that moment's standings are saved as a permanent record — a picture of exactly how the board stood. Your rating itself doesn't reset: it keeps moving straight into the next season, uninterrupted.

Season archives are kept for good. There's no cut-off where old boards disappear, and that stays true even after you leave the ladder yourself. If someone is removed from a season's record, their spot is left empty rather than closed up, so nobody else's placing quietly shifts.

If you'd rather your name wasn't attached to those old boards going forward, you can switch on Show me as "Former member" — either on the leave screen when you leave, or any time before that from the board screen. It replaces your name on every past season's standings without touching the ranks or ratings themselves, and it's off by default. The switch only works while you're still on the ladder, though — once you've left, it's no longer there to tap. Already left? Email privacy@8nout.com and we'll switch it on for you, free, without you needing to rejoin the ladder or delete your account.

Leaving the ladder itself is simple, and separate from all of that. Come off it from your profile and your rating stops moving — it isn't kept, so if you join again later you start over at 1500, the same as any new member. None of this touches your match record, your clubs or your account.
