Public Profile Name Terms

Version 1.0 · Last updated 28 September 2026

These terms apply when you claim a profile name for your 8nOut profile link, or change it. They add to our Terms of Service; everything in those still applies.

1. What a profile name is

Every member has a code link: 8nout.com/p/ followed by 8 characters. You can also claim a profile name, so your link reads like 8nout.com/p/your-name. Profile names are only for members who have told us they're 18 or over.

2. What becomes public

When you claim a name, anyone can see your public profile at that address, with or without an 8nOut account. It shows:

Anyone who types the address can open it, even when search engines are switched off.

3. Search engines

Search engines such as Google can list your profile as soon as you claim the name. We also list the address in a public sitemap.

You can switch this off at any time with "Let search engines find my profile", right after claiming or later from your profile. When you do, we ask search engines to stop and take the address out of our sitemap. Listings they already have can take days to weeks to drop, and copies other people or sites have made are outside our control.

4. Choosing a name

Use a name that's yours to use. Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't use another person's name, or a brand or trademark that isn't yours. Some names are reserved, and our filters refuse names with language that isn't allowed on 8nOut. If a name is refused, we tell you why.

5. Changing your name

6. Removing your name

You can remove your name at any time from your profile, with "Remove my profile name". There's no waiting period for this.

7. If we remove your name

We can remove a name that breaks these terms or our Terms of Service. If we do, we tell you what we removed, which rule it broke, and how to ask us to look again (Terms of Service §8.3 and §13). A person makes that decision, not an automated tool. A removed name can't be claimed again. Your code link keeps working, and you can claim a different name.

8. The permission you give us

While you hold a name, you allow us to show your public profile at that address to anyone, and, while search engines are switched on, to let them list it. This permission ends when the name ends: when you change it, remove it, when we remove it, or when you delete your account.

9. New versions

If we change these terms, we'll show you the new version the next time you claim or change a name, and ask you to accept it then. Until then, the version you accepted keeps applying to your current name.
