What is the connection count on my profile, and who can see it?
Your profile shows how many connections you have, for example "12 connections". Only accepted connections count, so a request that's still waiting never changes the number. It's the same number as your Connections list, and it goes down if you remove or block someone.
Other signed-in members see the number when they open your profile. They only ever see the number, never who your connections are. It's never shown on your public profile link. If your count is hidden, or you have no connections yet, other members see nothing there at all.
The first time your count appears, a short notice on your own profile explains it, with two buttons: Got it and Hide it. Nobody else sees your count until you've answered it. Got it, or closing the notice, lets other members see it. Hide it keeps it to yourself.
You can change your mind any time with the "Show my connection count" switch. On iPhone and Android it's in Settings, under Privacy. In the web app it's on the Profile tab. If your Activity was set to Private when this feature arrived, your count started out hidden too, and you can turn it on here.
You always see your own count, even when it's hidden from others. When it's hidden, it says "Hidden from others" underneath. Tap your own count to open your Connections list.
If you're under 18, or haven't told us your age group, your count is never shown to other members. The switch stays off and you can't turn it on. You still see the count on your own profile.
